MEET THE FOUNDERMylène Huynh, MD, MPH
Dr. Mylène (“Mee-lenn”) Huynh (“Winn”) is board certified in Family Practice, Preventive Medicine, and Functional Medicine, with more than 30 years of experience in integrative health and medical acupuncture. Guided by a lifelong devotion to healing, Dr. Huynh blends the art and science of medicine to help individuals and communities thrive. Her work reflects a deep belief that true health arises from balance — among body, mind, spirit, and environment.
A certified Functional Medicine practitioner, Dr. Huynh’s professional interests include clinical nutrition, lifestyle medicine, mindfulness meditation, and evidence-based strategies for reversing chronic disease. Her holistic approach invites patients to take an active role in their healing and to rediscover vitality through compassionate, personalized care.
Dr. Huynh received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville. An Echols Scholar, she graduated with high distinction with a major in psychology and a minor in religious studies. Her passion for the natural foundations of health led her to complete the Foundations in Herbal Medicine course taught by Dr. Tieraona Low Dog and to graduate from the Armed to Farm program, a sustainable agriculture training for military veterans.
During a distinguished 21-year career in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Huynh served in multiple leadership and academic roles, including flight surgeon, family medicine faculty member, clinic director, and consultant to the USAF Surgeon General on preventive medicine and global health initiatives.
Dr. Huynh has presented on medical topics worldwide. She has delivered keynote addresses at prestigious conferences, including serving as a plenary speaker at the Institute for Functional Medicine's Annual International Conference. She has also led workshops at the Society of Federal Health Professionals annual meeting, the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians (USAFP) annual meeting, and the National Capital Region Pain Initiative skills training.
Dr. Huynh currently serves as Chair of the International Board of Functional Medicine Certification (IBFMC)™, an independent body established by the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) Governing Board of Directors to uphold professional standards for certification in functional medicine. In this role, she helps ensure the integrity of certification processes and contributes to advancing excellence in the field of functional medicine worldwide.
At TruPoint Health, Dr. Huynh and her team are proud partners in the Food for Life Educational Alliance Program, led by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, promoting plant-based nutrition as a cornerstone of health.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Huynh finds joy in cycling, hiking, gardening, beekeeping, reading, and exploring the world’s natural beauty. She and her husband have been married for nearly 40 years and are blessed with three adult sons, a beloved daughter-in-law, and a cherished granddaughter. They make their home in McLean, Virginia, where Dr. Huynh continues her mission to inspire healing, connection, and wholeness — one person at a time.

HEALTH COACH, MINDFULNESS INSTRUCTOR
Audrey Schoomaker, RN, BSN, E-RYT brings many years of experience to holistic health practice. A Veteran Army nurse, wife of a senior military leader, and mother of three grown children, she healed her own chronic low back pain through yoga–in a dynamic lifestyle. That experience propelled her to become a well-trained yoga instructor, mind body skills facilitator, and health and wellness coach.
She taught yoga as adjunct faculty at George Mason University for five years. She was the project coordinator a research study using therapeutic yoga (for managing low back pain) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Before starting her own health optimization company, Myndwell, she worked for the Uniformed Services University’s Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) to create digital presentations to optimize human performance using mind body skills (HPRC-online.org).
She has presented at national conferences, including Walter Reed’s annual “Pain Care Skills Training”, the “State of the Science”, and the Military Child Education Coalition conferences, as well as several other venues.
She is mother of three children, and is married to LTG(Ret) Eric Schoomaker, former Surgeon General of the Army, who championed the use of integrative approaches for pain management in the military.
